With breath-taking coastal landscapes, elegant city centres and a distinctive local cultural, New Zealand is a nation that exceeds all expectations. Whether you’re an ardent animal enthusiast, an active explorer keen on witnessing the world’s finest natural wonders or simply want to experience something totally different to the everyday, extraordinary Aotearoa must be seen to be believed.

If it wasn’t already clear, New Zealand has quickly become one of our favourite destinations and the excitement to share this enchanting three-week experience has been palpable around our team. No one, however, is more excited than our expert product manager, Kathy, who has meticulously crafted the tour to inspire your wanderlust. We recently sat down with Kathy to better understand the thought that went into this extraordinary escape and her feelings as we look forward to sharing every wish-list experience with you.

1. This tour has been a long time coming! How do you feel now that it’s available to customers?

I’m absolutely thrilled that it’s finally available. I carefully crafted the itinerary while travelling through New Zealand myself, making sure to include the best of what these breath-taking islands have to offer. It’s a place that leaves a lasting impression.

2. If you had to pick a favourite spot we visit on the tour, what would it be?

That’s such a tough question, every location has something special! But I’d say simply driving across the South Island’s mountain ranges, surrounded by glacial lakes and snow-capped peaks, was incredible. I stopped so many times just to soak it all in.

3. What do you think makes our New Zealand tour stand out?

New Zealand deserves to be seen properly, and that means covering a lot of ground. I’ve built the tour to do just that, while keeping one-night stays to a minimum so guests can really settle into each place. Including Abel Tasman National Park was also a priority as it’s a peaceful, less-visited gem that adds a more relaxing touch to the adventure.

4. We offer a few optional experiences too. Are there any must-sees you’d recommend customers don’t miss?

Definitely! If you're a film fan, or even if you're not, Hobbiton is a great visit. The story behind how the set was created for Lord of the Rings is fascinating, and the setting itself is really special.

5. There’s so much to see in New Zealand – how can customers make the most of each stop?

Be ready for a full itinerary, but that’s part of the magic! There’s so much to experience, and even the time spent travelling is enjoyable, thanks to the stunning landscapes. And after a packed day, a glass of New Zealand wine never goes amiss!

6. New Zealand is renowned for its scenery, but can customers enjoy its culture and man-made highlights too?

Absolutely. Exploring Māori heritage was something I really wanted to highlight on this tour. I found New Zealand’s culture deeply respectful and connected to nature and being immersed in that adds a powerful and meaningful layer to the overall experience.

7. Travel is obviously a big part of the itinerary – how did you balance that with the sights and experiences on offer?

While there are some long journeys, the beauty of New Zealand is that the travel days feel like part of the adventure. The scenery is so dramatic and varied that even the drives are packed with memorable moments.

8. Having experienced New Zealand yourself, could you sum it up in 10 words or less?

Laid-back, gloriously green, and a treasure trove of culture.
