With the long-awaited return of Bergerac to our screens, uncover the scenic spots in Jersey where the show came to life.

While this new year has proven eventful in many ways, one of the highlights has been the return of Bergerac and his adventures more than thirty years after the original. Casting Damien Molony as Jim Bergerac alongside Zoë Wanamaker and Philip Glenister, the new reboot transports us to the crime thriller exploits of the renowned ex-cop.

Cosy up with a mug of tea and admire the backdrop of the show – Jersey, the largest of the Channel Isles with its blend of European influences. With a coastline stretching 20 miles long to relax on sandy beaches, step into Bergerac’s shoes and consider this isle your next holiday destination.

Mont Orgueil Castle

Various scenes were shot near the medieval fortress of Mont Orgueil Castle in Gorey. With a history worth 600 years, it’s one of Britain’s best-preserved castles and a symbol of Jersey independence and Norman heritage. Casting a shadow over the fishing port, this landmark looms over Gorey Harbour and the Royal Bay of Grouville.

Embrace the opportunity to take a photo of this historic building as your background during our guided tour to the eastern side of the island.

St. Helier

The original 1981 opening shot of Bergerac sees the character sitting on a plane as it flies above Jersey, gazing down at the island. One of the sights includes the vibrant city centre of St Helier, with its maritime feel and variety of cafés, restaurants and bars. Choose one and grab a bite to eat – dare to try some of Bergerac’s favourite moreish Jersey oysters!

Spend a day at leisure in St Helier and lean into its history with a visit to the imposing Elizabeth Castle, one of actor Damien Molony’s family’s favourites, or head towards the Maritime Museum to learn about the island’s sea life through the ages for a chance to absorb more about the wildlife of Jersey. Or for a breath of fresh air and a stretch of the legs, join our optional guided walk across its famous Green Lanes.

St Ouen's Bay

On our included tour of Jersey’s coastline, head towards the west coast and wander over to St Ouen’s Bay, its stretch of sand giving way to the rugged cliffs of the north coast with windswept surfer beaches. See the imposing La Rocco Tower, a highlight of the first episode in the new series of Bergerac.

Defending the island from the French Invasion in 1796, this tower is located on the same beach where Damien Molony performed his role as Bergerac.

La Corbière Lighthouse

Located on St Aubin’s Bay, La Corbière Lighthouse is a striking building that towers in the south-western corner of Jersey, which is known for having one of the highest tidal reaches in the world. Being one of the series’ filming locations, the lighthouse celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2024. Keep an eye out for local dolphins aboard a cruise on the Jersey Duchess, with a full commentary that takes you from the 16th-century Elizabeth Castle onto the lighthouse.

This lighthouse is also situated near La Pulente, home to the beachside building known as ‘The Jersey Club’ and repurposing the vacant Nude Dunes restaurant for filming. Immerse yourself fully by bringing a picnic or perhaps having dinner in one of the local restaurants.
