The largest of the Channel Islands, it has a coastline stretching 20 miles long, providing ample opportunities to unwind on uncrowded sandy beaches.

Despite encompassing an area just nine miles long and five miles wide, Jersey offers plenty to curious visitors. Indeed, wherever visitors are based on their Jersey Holidays, they are never more than ten minutes from the sea. Said to be the sunniest spot in the British Isles, the island makes a wonderful holiday destination complete with a range of sights and attractions to explore. Closer to France than it is to England, it has a unique blend of European influences.

Around one third of the island's 108,000-strong population is based in its capital, St Helier. This bustling port town is home to a wealth of shopping and dining options, as well as attractions such as Elizabeth Castle, the botanic gardens and several great museums. Jersey breaks offer plenty outside of the capital, too. From ancient ruins and castles to the picturesque beaches of St Brelade, St Ouen and St Aubin, the island welcomes those seeking both exploration and relaxation.

Things to do in Jersey

With so much on offer in Jersey, how do you decide what to see? Here's where to begin your journey.

Image of the table with two people having dinner, from the point of view from behind one's shoulder, the plate in the forefront is blurry but the other shows a plate of lobster and vegetables, and the persons' two hands cutting it up with a knife and fork. A glass of white wine and salt and pepper grinders are also on the table.
Jersey Food Drink

Food & Drink in Jersey

The Old Courthouse in St Aubin is a cosy spot overlooking the harbour.

One of the best-loved pubs on the island, it offers a superb selection of beers, ciders and ales. You should also be sure to try cabbage loaf on your trip. The dough of this traditional bread is baked in cabbage leaves to give it a unique scent. Perhaps sample it with another of the island's delicacies - nièr beurre, or black butter.

Jersey also has the perfect answer to satisfy sugar cravings - the Jersey wonder. This doughnut-like sweet snack is found all over the island, although specific recipes differ from parish to parish. Of course, being surrounded by water, you can't help but be tempted by Jersey's seafood selection. Available in most restaurants, its freshness is hard to beat.
