Vancouver perfectly encapsulates the essence of the Great White North. In a day you can discover the bustling Granville Street, the heart of the city’s entertainment district, trek out to what feels like remote, wooded wilderness, and be back in time for cocktails while overlooking the Burrard Inlet in North Vancouver.

Whether you’re a hiker, a shopper, or a food-lover, a Vancouver holiday has something for you. The fashionable Robson Street is full of great shopping options, as is the skyscraper laden Downtown Core. Then there’s the buzzing Granville Island peninsula, which is also home to museums, galleries, and some excellent food options. If you want a more upscale experience, West Vancouver is known for high-end boutiques, delightful cafes, and charming restaurants.

A short jump from Vancouver is Vancouver Island, known for its artsy community, slightly milder climate, and rugged natural features that are perfect for hiking, camping, and paddle sports. Day tours through the landscape are a popular pastime, although you may find it hard to leave after only a day.

While the city is surrounded by some phenomenal nature, Rocky Mountain tours from Vancouver are incredibly popular, especially to Banff National Park, or our tour to Vancouver & the US Pacific. Make the time to take the long trip out and you won’t regret it.

Food and drink in Vancouver

When it comes to dining out, there are few better cities to eat your way through than Vancouver. Home to an impressively vast variety of cuisines, you can find every type of dish your taste buds desire here. From authentic Chinese food and street food to fine dining and organic delis, it's impossible to tire of the city's food scene.

Thanks to Vancouver’s large Japanese population, it is also considered by many to be the sushi capital of North America. With fancy restaurants and hole-in-the-walls serving up sashimi and everything else, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Shucking fans are also in luck: West Coast Oysters are known for their size, as well as their sweet flavour, and are freely available all over the city. Even if you’ve got reservations about the delicacy, there’s no better place to try them for the first time.
